I have always been a country girl, with horses holding a special place in my heart, but that life wasn’t one I was able to fully realize in my youth. Instead, I kept myself close to the animals I loved by painting and drawing them until I was able to have horses of my own. I had been drawing since I could hold a pencil (or a crayon) using animals as my inspiration even if I couldn’t own them.
My life changed dramatically after my father died, and I moved to South Dakota. This created new challenges for me but allowed me to finally realize my dream of owning horses. I wasn’t prepared for the hardships and heartaches from owning and loving this land, but the absolute beauty of the west with all its fierceness and wonder is something I would not trade for any other home. Here is where my art has been able to flourish, becoming my main focus.
I attend several shows each year and offer art classes in Rapid City to share my passion. Whatever the medium, art is the only way to fully express my love of animals and this life. Through the strokes of my brush, I gain clarity and a better sense of the world around me. I hope I will always be able to share views of ranch life and the animals I love from my beloved home.
